Have a Heart for Hunger...

Bridgepointe brings Northville and Detroit students together several times per year to pack these meals. One third of the meals packed stay here in southeast Michigan to feed local families in need, one third goes to third-world countries, and one third is sent to disaster areas. One group last year packed meals a few days after the Haiti earthquake, and knew their work was directly helping that country whose devastation they just saw on the news. It was heartwarming to see how special they felt, knowing how they were really helping! It’s a wonderful program, but it costs money to buy the rice, protein and herbs that go into the packets.
Please join us for our second annual “Have a Heart for Hunger” event that will raise funds to keep this service-learning tradition alive. On Saturday, November 20th, come to NHS, where you can experience the excitement of packing these meals! Kids love doing this, and parents will also enjoy the opportunity to get involved. The meals we pack that day will stay here to benefit Northville’s Civic Concern.
During this event, you’ll also be able to enjoy our Soup Supper and taste a variety of mouth-watering soups from a dozen different top-notch local restaurants. Tasty breads and homemade desserts will also be served. Eat anytime between 4:00 and 7:00.
Kids’ games will be available to keep the kids busy while the parents linger and enjoy a cup of coffee. We’re hoping to have a few students help entertain the kids with some magic tricks. Before or after the soup supper, please plan on seeing the NHS production of Rogers and Hammerstein’s Broadway Musical, “Cinderella.” If you’ve seen NHS plays before, you already know how fabulous they are! If you haven’t, indulge yourself! You’ll be amazed at the talent of our young men and women. You’d pay at least five times this amount to see this play professionally, and yet the quality will be just as good! With support of the Tipping Point Theater and Oak Point Music, our students will be well prepared! Following both Saturday performances, the actors and actresses will be available for photos with members of the audience. Bring your cameras! Shows are at 2:00 or 7:00.
Tell all your friends and family! Play tickets will be assigned on a first come-first served basis. Dinner reservations and play tickets will be held for pick up the day of the event.
